FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)

How much will it cost?
My rates are reasonable and totally flexible depending on the job.  How much to edit your book? Tell me the word length and let me look at your writing skills. The minimum fee for simple editing is between $200 and $500 for a 50,000 word book. Ghostwriting your book is more complicated and costs more. In short: Send me a sample of your manuscript (a chapter, for example) or an outline and we’ll talk.

I live in another state. Can you still edit or ghostwrite my book long distance?
Absolutely. We can use email extensively, working out color codes for corrections and revisions. We can have face-to-face discussions via Skype or Facetime on our iPhones. We can also text when necessary.

Do you have any restrictions on content for books — that is, would you do a book that was on a controversial subject such as, say, gay marriage or gun ownership or teen suicide?
Nearly anything goes, as long as it isn’t blatantly illegal or threatening to the U.S. government.

How do I pay you, and when?
New clients are required to pay a certain percentage of estimated fees in advance — anywhere from 10 to 50 percent, depending on the nature of the job. We will then work out a payment schedule. You and I will sign an agreement — call it a Letter of Understanding — in which I describe your project and what is required of each of us during the work on your project. You will have final approval every step of the way.

Do you take credit cards?
I take all credit cards via PayPal. When a payment is required, I will send you a PayPal invoice. With that you can use any credit card or your PayPal account. I can also process credit cards on my iPhone. Personal and business checks are also accepted, but out-of-state (AZ) checks must clear before work can commence.

I’m not computer literate; I only use a typewriter. Can you still help me write my book?
Probably not, unless you have a friend with a computer who can type your manuscript in Microsoft Word. That’s the way things are done these days…welcome to the digital world!

Can you help me get my book self-published, or printed, and put on Amazon? Can you help me market my book?  Create an e-book and get it on Smashwords? How about connecting me with an agent or publishing house and making me rich & famous?
Yes, maybe, yes, and probably not. It all depends on what you have in mind, what is your budget, what are your goals, and what is realistic in today’s fast-changing publishing world. It’s a whole new game now.
